“A great building must begin with the unmeasurable, must go through measurable means when it is being
designed and in the end must be unmeasurable.” -Louis Kahn
Here’s where we are now: The elevator pit is dug out and concrete poured for the elevator vault. Electricity was available at the ONCOR pole, and our transformer is in, we have full power to our building. The painting of the exterior concrete walls is complete. The museum logo on the front of the building was built and installed. Also, the front porch cover has not been completed due to weather. We had authorized the water company to drill the water line under the highway for our fire extinguisher system, but they had not made progress yet and finally, most exciting….
our sheetrock inside is complete and the carpet has been laid and we will be starting the exhibits soon!
Our direct mail fundraising campaign had over 4,000 engraved bricks to order for donors and we have completed the first wall to hold them. Each wall will hold 2,800 bricks. The parking lot plan was made and it won’t be built until the contractors quit tearing it up driving through the wet ground. And finally, funds are coming in at a much slower rate. We can use some more donations to speed up the process and open on time!
